Default Trouble with Dying My Armor...

I recently purchased Gladiator's Krytan Armor from the canthan armor trader.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_Krytan_armor

I need to dye it red to match the rest of my armor but the previews shows a yellow/orange color when dyed red. I bought all the dyes to try to mix and match to get a dark red color out of it. None were even close. I looked through the Community Works sections and peered through most of the Dye related threads but found nothing helpful.

I need help to look uniform! Thanks All!

I think this armor comes with a yellow base color (from reading info on guildwiki.org discussion tab). Have you tried starting with a gray dye to remove that?

It's quite possible that your armor can't be dyed dark red. Kurzick warrior armor is like that too.

the preview shows the armor with its original color (nothing changes) when you put grey on it and it wont let me apply the grey dye cause its the same color as the original.

I also have the ringmail hauberk which i obtained from a collector in souther shiverpeaks. it was easily dyed red but has no prefix (IE glad, knight's, etc)

still need help =(

If it indeed cant be dyed red,
I have a another question. On the Warrior Vabbian armor, I tried to dye it white but it previews as a off white and not really a gleaming white on most other armors I have seen. Is there a dye mixture for this?

I have a similiar problem with Tyrian Warrior Armor (as in the specific set you can craft in Cantha called Tyrian) not able to be dyed red, but instead coming out an orange.
My suggestion, just mix red and orange. The armor still won't match your other armor pieces, but it will at least look alright.

Different armor styles pick up dyes in different ways. The only way you're guaranteed to get a uniform colour on your entire set is by only wearing a single style and using the same dye mix.

Same story in the real world - different materials and textures pick up dyes differently resulting in different colours and shades from the same basic dye.

so are you telling me to give up?

I personally don't really like any one armor set in GW. I like to mix match armors for all my characters. And since you can apply 4 dyes on at once I thought maybe theres a dye pattern I could find to make different sets match. But when I look in the Dye charts the generous people put up in Community Works, most of the 3 dye 4 dye combos come out with the same colors as the 2 dye combos. Very disappointed Anet.

Considering how much eye candy GuildWars already provides us, I think you are being a TAD bit critical just because you can't dye two different sets of armor the exact same color. Go out and grab a stainless steel chain byrnie and tell me if you can dye it the same color as your denim jacket.

denim dye would go for 100k + ecto

but i was saying if they give 4 slots but you only need to use 2-3 max to make all the color it seems like they want players to think theyre putting more content in the game that they actually are.

well if i cant dye that piece of armor red then ill try something else:

can anyone tell me if the warrior vabbian armor can be dyed a shiny white?
when i preview with a white dye on the warrior vabbian it shows a off white and definitely not very appealing.

Thx for all the replies so far!

If you want a shiny white, perhaps white + white + silver would give something like that? I can't say I've ever experimented with how colours work with the Vabbian styles so that's just a shot in the dark

Don't mean to be a pain in the butt, but don't forget environment plays a part too. Your off-white armor might shine brilliantly if you are in a snowy setting with no environmental light filters. One thing I don't like about the current dye window is that it colors your background with whatever dye combo you have mixed. That throws things off for me. =P

4 dye combos ARE different from 2-3 dye combos. Of course it won't look different if you compare 2 green + 2 blue with green+blue. >.>

There's a huge thread in community works which is all about how armors get colors. There are 2-dye combos for nearly all armors... and you can request this particular piece there, if it isn't already posted.
